Who was Oliver Samuel Tonks?
Oliver Samuel Tonks, Ph.D. was a professor of art at Vassar College. He was born at Malden, Massachusetts, educated at Harvard, was instructor in classical Greek in the University of Vermont in 1903-04, lecturer at Columbia in 1904-05, and served at Princeton in 1905-11. He became professor of art at Vassar in 1911. He collaborated in writing The Art Museum and the Public School, and he was a fellow of the American Classical School at Athens in 1901-02.
