Who is Paolo Verrucci?

Paolo Verrucci is an Italian film colorist.

Starting work at Cinecittà Studios in Rome in December 1993 at the age of 17 years old, he began in different departments of the laboratory. In 1998 he transferred to the lighting department where, in proximity to the expert Pasquale Cuzzupoli and the other colorists, he was introduced to traditional color correction with a video color-analyzer. After a year he worked in film restoration as a Color Timer for old movies with the famous cinematographer Giuseppe Rotunno as his supervisor.

He worked in movies such as "C'eravamo tanto amati" directed by Ettore Scola, "La prima notte di quiete" directed by Valerio Zurlini. He also collaborated with Martin Scorsese for the documentary "il mio viaggio in Italia" which was shown at the Cannes Festival. In September 2001 he started work in digital color grading at Cinecitta Digital, where he collaborated in American movie post-production. Lately he has worked on famous movies such as: "Gangs of New York", directed by Martin Scorsese, "The Passion of the Christ" directed by Mel Gibson and "Life Aquatic" directed by Wes Anderson.

He is capable of using a film-scanner in Spirit DataCine 2K for digital intermediate processing, having worked on "The Listening" and other smaller Italian productions. He worked on some of the most important Italian films such as la tigre e la neve directed by Roberto Benigni, in digital intermediate processing as a colorist with Nucoda Film Master.
