Philip Montgomery Thompson III was born on April 29, 1943 in Salt Lake City Utah. Phil has spent his entire business career working for Industrial Supply Co. of Salt Lake City, Utah. Phil served as CEO of the Company from 1979 to 2008. He is currently Chairman of the Company he has worked for 48 years.

Industrial Supply Co. is a family business founded in 1916. The Company is a privately owned distributor in the Rocky Mountain region of tools and supplies for the mining, construction, energy, manufacturing, public utilities, and the aerospace and defense segments.

Phil served as Chairman of the Economic Development Corporation of Utah edcUtah is a public private partnership focused on creating jobs and investment in Utah. Phil also works with the Governors Office on Economic Development as a mentor for the Mentor-Protégé program to help minority owned businesses become 8-A certified.

Phil was a founding member and Chairman of the Young Presidents Organization, Utah. Phil currently serves on the Board of Wells Fargo Bank, YMCA, and the Shea Family Foundation. He is also a member of the World Presidents Organization & advisory board member of the "National Ability Center".
