Who is Philip Sidney, 2nd Viscount De L'Isle?

Philip John Algernon Sidney, 2nd Viscount De L'Isle, MBE, DL is a British peer and former soldier.

Lord De L'Isle is the eldest son of the William Sidney, 1st Viscount De L'Isle, and his wife Jacqueline. He was educated at Tabley House, Mons OCS and Sandhurst. After service in the Rifle Brigade, in 1966, he became a Major in the Grenadier Guards and took early retirement in 1979. He was appointed Vice-Lieutenant of Kent in 2002 and is also a Freeman of the City of London and a member of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. On 15 November 1980, he married Isobel Tresyllian Compton, the youngest daughter of the civil servant Sir Edmund Compton. They have two children, Hon. Sophia Jacqueline Mary and Hon. Philip William Edmund. Sidney succeeded to his father's titles in 1991.
