Who is Philippe Garrel?

Philippe Garrel is a French director, cinematographer, screenwriter, editor and producer. His movies have won him awards at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and Venice Film Festival.

During his 10-year relationship with German singer and actress Nico between 1969 and 1979, he featured her in seven of his films, beginning in 1972. From a relationship with the actress Brigitte Sy, he is the father of actor Louis Garrel.
