Who is Podiappuhamy Piyasena?
Podiappuhamy H. P. Piyasena is a Sri Lankan Tamil politician and Member of Parliament.
Piyasena has represented the Ampara multi-member electoral district in the Sri Lankan Parliament since April 2010. He was elected from the Tamil National Alliance but in September 2010 he defected to the ruling United People's Freedom Alliance.
Piyasena is the first Sinhalese to be elected parliament from a Tamil political party.
