Who is Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh?

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is a social reformer, preacher, spiritual leader and the head of the India-based socio-spiritual organisation Dera Sacha Sauda since 23 September 1990. His followers revere him as Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan.

Under Singh's leadership, DSS has engaged in numerous social programmes, including blood drives, tree planting, disaster relief, and support for transgender people, tribal communities, orphans, and rehabilitation of sex workers. Being Chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, Singh has affected lives of more than 50 million people around the world as of October 2012.
