Rebecca Ranninger

Who is Rebecca Ranninger?

As Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources officer Rebecca

Ranninger oversees strategic workforce management at Symantec. She

manages the planning, direction and implementation of Symantec's global

personnel programs and policies and participates in the overall

executive management of the company.

Reporting to her is a worldwide human resources organization, which

serves all of Symantec's employees in the areas of human resource

services, compensation, benefits, organizational development, training,

EEO compliance, recruiting, staffing, and all other aspects of human

capital management. Ranninger also acts as secretary and corporate

liaison for Symantec’s Compensation Committee, which deals with all

aspects of employee, executive and board of director compensation.

Before taking the helm in Human Resources in 1997, Ranninger served as

Director of Litigation for Symantec. Her trial work covered all aspects

of the high tech industry, including employee disputes, mergers and

acquisitions, international sales, intellectual property and software

licensing issues.

In her Human Resources role, Ranninger has overseen the

successful acquisition of over two dozen companies, both public and

private. She has also built a recruiting and staffing function that has

brought over 10,000 employees into the company worldwide in the last

several years.

She has testified before the Securities Exchange Commission and has

addressed trade and industry groups on topics ranging from document

retention policies to shareholder litigation reform, to the successful

integration of large workforces. Ranninger also serves as President of

the Symantec Foundation, which administers Symantec's charitable

activities.

Before joining Symantec in 1991, Ranninger was a business

litigator with the San Francisco-based law firm Heller, Ehrman, White

McAuliffe, where she gained front line experience in intellectual

property and securities litigation.

Ranninger holds a juris doctorate from Stanford University, a

bachelor’s degree in jurisprudence from Oxford University, and a

bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University. She has also

completed the Human Resource Executive Program at the Graduate School

of Business, Stanford University, and the Stanford Directors College at

Stanford Law School.
