Who is Ria Stalman?
Maria Geertruida Stalman is a retired discus thrower from the Netherlands, who won the gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, United States. This earned her the Dutch Sportswoman of the year award the same year.
Her personal best throw was 71.22 metres, achieved in July 1984. That still is the Dutch record.
Stalman went to Arizona State University where she was on the track and field team.
