Sir Robert VI de Brus, 6th Lord of Annandale, jure uxoris Earl of Carrick, Lord of Hartness, Writtle and Hatfield Broad Oak, was a cross-border lord, and participant of the Second Barons' War, Welsh Wars, and First War of Scottish Independence.
Of Scoto-Norman heritage, through his father he was a third-great grandson of David I, as well as claiming Richard de Clare, 2nd Earl of Pembroke, King of Leinster and Governor of Ireland, and William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke in addition to Henry I of England amongst his ancestors.
