Who is Robert L Byers?

Mr. Byers has been a director of National Penn Bancshares, Inc. since 2005. He was a founder and director of FirstService Bank prior to its merger with National Penn in 2003. Mr. Byers serves on the Compensation and Technology Committees. He is also on the board of National Penn Bank.

Mr. Byers is founder and Chairman of Byers Choice Ltd., the leading producer of Christmas figurines in the nation; a company with a national brand and 2,500 retailers in the USA and overseas. In addition, Mr. Byers was a founder of three other businesses, one museum - The James A. Michener Art Museum, and three non-profit organizations.

Mr. Byers’ educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Drexel University and numerous post-graduate courses. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Drexel in 2002. Mr. Byers has lectured on Entrepreneurship at Penn’s Wharton School, Drexel’s LeBow College of Business, and Temple’s Fox Business School.

Mr. Byers has many years of service on other boards including Drexel University, James A. Michener Art Museum, PA Academy of Fine Arts, Heritage Conservancy, National Liberty Museum, and the National Board of the Salvation Army.
