Who is Romeo Challenger?
Romeo Challenger is a Caribbean-born, British-based musician.
Challenger was born in St. John's, Antigua, West Indies. Since 1973, he has been the drummer in the rock and roll band, Showaddywaddy. He had previously played in several groups, including progressive rock/hard rock band, Black Widow in the early 1970s.
Challenger also played in the Leicester Boys' football team with Peter Shilton and Jeff Blockley, who both went on to enjoy professional careers. He is also the Showaddywaddy bandmate of Trevor Oakes - father of professional footballers Scott and Stefan Oakes. Contrary to popular belief, Challenger is not the father of footballer, Dion Dublin, although he is close friends with Dion's father, Eddie, who is also a professional drummer.
Romeo Challenger is the father of high jumper, Ben Challenger, who won a silver medal in the 1998 Commonwealth Games, and a bronze medal four years later; and Tamzin Challenger, an upcoming musical artist, to-date best-known for her material with bassline producer, T2.
