Who is Rudolf Plyukfelder?
Rudolf Vladimirovich Plyukfelder is a former Russian weightlifter and Olympic champion who competed for the Soviet Union.
He is of German ancestry, and was born in Novoorlovka, Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. His farther and his older brother were executed by NKVD in November 1941 after Germans launched invasion in the Soviet Union.
Plyukfelder won a gold medal at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, setting a new Olympic record. He won the light heavyweight world championship in 1959 and 1961.
