Who was Russ Swan?

Russell Howard Swan was a Major League Baseball pitcher from 1989 to 1994 for the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, and Cleveland Indians. Swan was a southpaw relief pitcher usually used in the setup role, although occasionally would be called upon to be the closer during the 1991 and 1992 campaigns.

He was drafted by three different teams: in January 1984 by the Astros, in June 1984 by the Mariners and in June 1986 by the Giants.

On June 9, 1990, he took a no hitter into the 8th inning while pitching for the Seattle Mariners against the Detroit Tigers.

On April 17, 2006, Swan was found unconscious after a fall in a stairwell in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He died nine days later at the hospital. Swan was 42 years old.
