Who was Russell Honey?
Russell Clayton Honey was a Liberal party member of the Canadian House of Commons. He was born in Riverhurst, Saskatchewan and became a lawyer by career after studies at Osgoode Hall Law School.
After an initial unsuccessful attempt to win the Durham riding in the 1958 federal election, he won that seat in the 1962 election. Honey was re-elected there in 1963 and 1965. His riding changed in the late 1960s to Northumberland—Durham where he won re-election in the 1968 election. After serving his final House of Commons term in the 28th Canadian Parliament, he was defeated in the 1972 election by Allan Lawrence of the Progressive Conservative party.
After leaving federal politics, Honey served as a judge from 1973 to 1991. At first he was a judge of the county court, and on merger of the courts became a judge of the Ontario Superior Court in 1990-91.
