Who was Sabah I bin Jaber?

Sheikh Abu Abdullah Sabah I bin Jaber Al Sabah was the first ruler of Kuwait's ruling al-Sabah dynasty. The official Kuwaiti history states that he was unanimously chosen for the position of sheikh.
