Who is Sardar Muhammad Arif Nakai?

Sardar Muhammad Arif Nakai belonged to a noble family of Nakai Misl, one of the 12 Misls of Sikh Confedracy. He was a Pakistani Muslim Jatt politician and had been part of the country's political landscape for well over forty years. He was the Chief Minister of Pakistan's most populated province from September 13, 1995 to November 3, 1996. He was unbeatable elected Member of Punjab Assembly for four consecutive terms during 1985-88, 1988โ€“90, 1990โ€“93 and 1993โ€“96; and also functioned as Minister for Revenue, Minister for Forests, Minister for Livestock & Dairy Development Department, Minister for Industries and Mineral Development and as Chief Minister of Punjab during 1995-96.

Sardar Muhammad Arif Nakai was a great leader who had done tremendous progressive work in his area. Even today all poor people greatly respect him in their hearts; so much so that he is remembered as Baba Arif Nakai by his admirers.

There had been a tug of war between Sardar Arif Nakai of Wan Adhan Pattoki and Rana Phool Muhammad Khan of Bahi Pheru. Arif Nakai's Son-in-Law is famous politician Sardar Muhammad Talib Nakai. His sons are Sardar Muhammad Asif Nakai, Sardar Pervaiz Hassan Nakai and Sardar Atif Nakai, current Tehsil Nazim of Pattoki Tehsil.
