Who is Shamek Pietucha?

Shamek Pietucha is a retired butterfly swimmer born in Poland, who competed for Canada at the 2000 Summer Olympics. There the resident of Calgary, Alberta started in the men's 100m and 200m butterfly. Currently, Shamek, known as the Integrative Sojourner, is a practicing integrative medicine physician in Canada.

His best result in Sydney was a sixth place finish in the Men's 4x100m Medley Relay. His international accomplishments include winning a total number of three medals at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada. Furthermore, he was the NCAA Division 1 Champion in 1999, while competing for the University of Virginia, in the 200 yard Butterfly. His other accomplishments include:

• 2000 World Championship Silver Medalist, 200m butterfly. Athens, GRE.

• 2000 Gold Medalist World Cup VI, 200m butterfly. Hobart, AUS.

• 1999 Gold Medalist World Cup II, 200m butterfly, 100m butterfly. Edmonton, CAN

• 1999 Pan American Games. Gold: 200m butterfly, Silver: 100m butterfly, and Bronze Medalist: 4x100 Medley Relay. Winnipeg, CAN.

• 1998 US Open Champion: 100 and 200m butterfly. Indianapolis, USA

• 1997 World University Games: Silver: 100m butterfly and Bronze Medalist: 200m butterfly. Sicily, ITALY.
