Who was Sir Edmund Bacon, 2nd Baronet?
Sir Edmund Bacon, 2nd Baronet was an English baronet and politician.
He was the oldest son of Sir Nicholas Bacon, 1st Baronet of Redgrave, Suffolk and his wife Anne Butts, only daughter of Edmund Butts. His younger brother was Sir Butts Bacon, 1st Baronet. He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, and admitted to Gray's Inn in 1586. In 1624, Bacon succeeded his father as baronet.
He sat as Member of Parliament for Eye from 1588 to 1589 and for Suffolk in 1593 and 1625. He was appointed High Sheriff of Suffolk in 1634.
Bacon married Philippa Wotton, daughter of Edward Wotton, 1st Baron Wotton. Their marriage was childless. He was buried in Redgrave, Suffolk and was succeeded in the baronetcy by his younger brother Robert.
