Stas Namin – Soviet and Russian musician, composer and producer, artist and photographer, theatre and movie director, founder and leader of The Flowers rock-band; founder, producer of Gorky Park rock-band, Moscow Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Ballet-on-Ice, Moscow Music and Drama Thetre and others ventures.
During the Soviet time he was forbidden as a dissident, and was not allowed to go abroad. From the very beginning of perestroika he started numerous innovative projects which were some of the first post-Soviet era private enterprises, and helped pave the way for Russian show business in the new era. In the second half of the 1980s, Namin vividly demonstrated that he was a pioneer in the new Russia's show business arena. His company SNC became virtually the first independent corporation which broke the state monopoly.
Namin was already 35 when in 1986 Gorbachev came into power. The freedom, which came to Russia let him travel abroad and make different projects and creative ideas. He was permitted to go on tour together with his rock band, and within three years they toured the world.
