Who is Stefan Reif?
Stefan Reif is professor emeritus at the University of Cambridge. He was born in Edinburgh on 21 January 1944.
He has a PhD from University College London and a Doctor of Literature from Cambridge. He held the following positions at Cambridge:
Fellow of St. John's College
Professor of Medieval Hebrew, Faculty of Oriental Studies
Founder Director of the Taylor-Schechter Genizah Research Unit
Former Head of the Oriental Division of the University Library.
He was president of the Jewish Historical Society of England in 1991-1992, of the British Association for Jewish Studies in 1992 and of the Cambridge Theological Society in 2002-2004.
He was previously lecturer in Hebrew and Semitics at the University of Glasgow, 1968-1972 then assistant professor of Hebrew at Dropsie College, 1972-1973.
He has written a pamphlet on prayer called "Mitsur Devash Asbi'echa"
