Who is The Solid Doctor?
Steve Cobby is a British electronica musician, composer, DJ and producer, based in Kingston-upon-Hull, Yorkshire.
Cobby co-founded Fila Brazillia with David McSherry in 1990. From 1990 to 1998 Fila Brazillia releases were on the Kingston-upon-Hull based Pork Recordings established by David 'Porky' Brennand and Cobby. In 1999 Cobby and McSherry set up the Yorkshire based Twentythree Records with Sim Lister.
Cobby records with Stephen Mallinder, a founder of Cabaret Voltaire, as Hey, Rube!.
In May 2005 at the Brighton Festival, Cobby was one of the friends and collaborators who joined the American composer and recording artist Harold Budd for his farewell concert. Others performing alongside Budd included: Bill Nelson, John Foxx, Russell Mills, Steve Jansen, Jah Wobble, Theo Travis, Robin Guthrie and The Balanescu Quartet.
In 2006 Cobby and Lister established Steel Tiger Records.
