Who is Stewart Albert Newblatt?

Stewart Albert Newblatt is a United States federal judge.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Newblatt was in the United States Army in the aftermath of World War II, from 1946 to 1947. He received a B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1950 and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1952. He was in private practice in Flint, Michigan from 1953 to 1962. He was a judge on the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Michigan from 1962 to 1970. He was in private practice in Flint, Michigan from 1970 to 1979.

Newblatt was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Newblatt was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on May 17, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on September 25, 1979, and received his commission on September 26, 1979. He assumed senior status on December 23, 1993.
