Who was Sueko Matsueda Kimura?
Sueko Matsueda Kimura was an American artist. She was born in Honolulu in 1912. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees from the University of Hawaii, where she met her fellow art student and future husband Keichi Kimura. She also attended the Chouinard Art Institute, Columbia University, the Brooklyn Museum Art School and the Art Students League of New York.
She worked for the Hawaii State Foundation for Culture and the Arts, the Contemporary Arts Center, the State Department of Education Artmobile, International Savings and Loan, Kaiser Hawaii-Kai Development Co. and the Honolulu Museum of Art.
The Hawaii State Art Museum and the Honolulu Museum of Art hold work by Sueko Matsueda Kimura.
