Who is Thach Thi Ngoc?
Thạch Thị Ngọc, married name Ngoc Thi Peterkin was a member of the South Vietnamese Olympic team. She held the record for the high jump in South Vietnam from 1966 through 1968.
In 1973, she immigrated to the United States on a fiancée visa, where she married United States Army Lieutenant Colonel John W. Peterkin in New York. She did not return to Vietnam until 1985, when the Government of Vietnam granted her a visa to visit her family in Mỹ Tho, Vietnam. She lives in New York City and owns a chain of nail salons and assists in humanitarian efforts for children in Vietnam.
