Who is Theodor Meron?

Theodor Meron is the President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and Presiding Judge of the Appeals Chambers of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the ICTY. He was elected President of the ICTY by his fellow judges on October 19, 2011, and again on October 1, 2013. He previously served as President of the ICTY from 2003 to 2005. On December 20, 2011, Meron was elected as a Judge of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals. On February 29, 2012, he was appointed President of the Mechanism for a four-year term, starting March 1, 2012.
