Who was Theodore M. Pomeroy?

Theodore Medad Pomeroy was an American politician from New York. He served in the House of Representatives as a Republican from 1861 to 1869, and was for a few hours Speaker of the House, from Vice President-elect Schuyler Colfax's resignation on March 3, 1869, until the session was adjourned sine die.
