Who is Toni Ketchell?

Toni Ketchell worked as a Flight Attendant for American Airlines. She was on board American Airlines Flight 383 when it crashed on November 8, 1965. During the descent into the Greater Cincinnati Airport she was sitting in a jump seat near Captain Weekley who was sitting in the most forward passenger seat on the right side of aircraft. Upon impact, she was thrown from the aircraft and was critically injured with two broken legs and internal injuries. She was the only member of the 5 person flight crew to survive . She was transferred to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington, Ky. Her first words to her parents in the hospital following the incident were "Am I going to live?" In subsequent years, Toni has become a strong, vocal advocate of airline cabin safety and, to this observer, she has become a pillar of strength and hope to victims and families of aviation events.
