Who was Ugo de Carolis?

Ugo de Carolis was a Brigadier-General and commander of the 52 Motorised Division Torino on the eastern front during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded by the Third Reich to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
