Who is Valdis Valters?

Valdis Valters is a retired Latvian basketball player. A point guard for the USSR, he is regarded as one of the greatest to have played the game in Europe in the 1980s.

Valters has worked as a basketball coach and has coached many of the most talented players in Latvian basketball history. He founded the former Valtera Basketbola Skola, now known as Keizarmezs, whose alumni include NBA player Andris Biedriņš as well as other top Latvian players. Therefore Valters is considered as one of the most influential persons in Latvian basketball.

He is currently working as a sports analyst in the biggest Latvian sports media Sportacentrs.com and also in Radio 101, where he hosts weekly radio show Overtime. Lately has also launched Overtime TV on television.

Both his sons Kristaps and Sandis are also basketball players.
