Who is Vern Handrahan?

James Vernon Handrahan is a Canadian former pitcher in Major League Baseball who played his entire career for the Kansas City Athletics. He is noted for being one of only three Major League Baseball players from Prince Edward Island, the others being 19th-century players George Wood and Henry Oxley.

Handrahan was originally signed by the Milwaukee Braves as an amateur free agent in 1959. He was later drafted by the Athletics from the Braves in the 1962 minor league draft. He appeared in 34 games for the Athletics in 1964 and 1966, primarily as a relief pitcher.
