Who is Vicente Engonga?

Vicente Engonga Maté is a Spanish retired footballer.

A central midfielder who on occasion filled in at sweeper, he played for six different professional clubs in his career. He had his longest and most successful spell at Mallorca, in spite of arriving at the club at the age of 32. In total, he appeared in 327 La Liga games and scored eight goals over the course of 11 seasons.

Engonga won 14 caps for Spain from his debut in 1998, and was a member of their squad for Euro 2000. He was also briefly the manager of the Equatorial Guinea national team.
