Who is Welington de Melo?
Welington Celso de Melo is a Brazilian mathematician. Known for his contributions to the dynamical systems theory, he has been a full professor at Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada since 1980. De Melo has written numerous papers, the most important being a complete description of the topological behavior of 1-dimensional real dynamical systems.
