Who is Wilfred D. Turner?
Wilfred Dent Turner was the ninth Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina from 1901 to 1905. He was born in Turnersburg, North Carolina. He attended Duke University, Class of 1876, and was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity.
A Democrat, Turner was elected to the North Carolina Senate in 1886, 1888 and 1890 from Iredell County. He was President pro tempore of the North Carolina Senate in 1891.
Turner was also a delegate to the 1896 Democratic National Convention. He died at the age of 78 in 1933 after a short illness.
