Who is William C. Richardson?

William Chase Richardson is a director of American electricity company Exelon, a position that he has held since March 2005. He serves on Exelon's Audit, Compensation, Risk Oversight and Corporate Governance Committees. Dr. Richardson received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity College and a Master in Business Administration degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

Dr Richardson was previously a graduate dean and vice provost for research at the University of Washington, executive vice president and provost at Pennsylvania State University, and held various positions at the University of Chicago. He later became president of Johns Hopkins University. Dr Richardson devoted his academic career to researching the financing and organization of health services in the USA.

Dr Richardson left academia to head the Kellogg Foundation and became chair and co-trustee of The Kellogg Foundation Trust. Dr Richardson has also been a director on the boards of the Kellogg Company, the Bank of New York, CSX Corporation, and Mercantile Bankshares. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences. He won its David Rall Award in 2007.
