Who is Yeshe Gyatso?

Yeshe Gyatso was a pretending 6th Dalai Lama of Tibet.

Yeshe Gyatso was presented as the real 6th Dalai Lama in 1706 by Lha-bzang Khan, after the real 6th Dalai Lama died during his travel to Beijing and his Dalai Lamaship was contested by Lha-bzang Khan. According to some sources, Yeshe Gyatso was the son of Lha-bzang. Lha-bzang proclaimed to the Tibetan people that Lobsang Gyatso had been initiated wrongly as the 6th Dalai Lama. The Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty recognized Yeshe at first and dunned the Tibetan people to recognize him and obey Lha-bzang Khan.

Shortly later, Tibetans in Eastern Tibet announced they had found the reincarnation, or 7th Dalai Lama near Lithang in the province of Kham, who was to be called Kelzang Gyatso. He was recognized by the Buddhist clergy and, after several unrests, in 1710 by the Kangxi Emperor as well.
