Who is Yoriko Kawaguchi?

Yoriko Kawaguchi is a Japanese politician. She was born in Tokyo. She holds a B.A. in international relations from the University of Tokyo, and a master's in economics from Yale University. She was the minister of the environment of Japan from 2000 until 2002 and the foreign minister of Japan from February 2002 until September 2004. She was reappointed to the post of foreign minister after a cabinet reshuffle in September 2003, but lost the post in the September 2004 cabinet reshuffle.

In July 2008, Kawaguchi was appointed cochair of a new International Commission on Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament, with former Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Gareth Evans.
