Who was Antonio Rotta?
Antonio Rotta was an Italian painter, mainly of genre subjects.
He was born in Gorizia in Friuli Venezia Giulia, in 1828, he completes his studies. At the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, where he studied under Ludovico Lipparini. He often painted scenes embued with pathos, including children or elderly or tender family scenes. In 1853, at the Exposition of Fine Arts in Milan, he displayed the historical canvas of Titian instructs Irene of Spilimberg in painting. In 1878 he won a medal at the Exhibition of the Salon of Paris. In 1891 he exhibited in Berlin. In 1894 at Gorizia he exhibited Stella marina. His son was the painter Silvio Giulio Rotta.
