Who was Ahmad Rahi?
Ahmad Rahi was a Punjabi poet and writer. He was born in Amritsar.His real name was Ghulam Ahmad and name given by his spiurtual leader was Khorsheed ahmad.He completed his early education from amritsar. in 1940, after completing his matriculations he got admission in M.A.O college but was expelled due to taking part in political movements.After expulsion he joined his father in his business of "Shaal saling".After independence he came to pakistan and joined as editor of "Sawera". he was paid RS 25 as salary. He wrote about the Partition of India. He also wrote many songs for films. His first book, Tarinjan, was published in 1952 and second book also have been published under the name of "Nimi Nimi Wa". taranjan was a poetry book about the Partition of India.His written songs for film Heer ranjha got much fame.Now every song was paid RS25 so, he resigned from the post of editor of Sawera.He died in 2September 2002 in Lahore.
