Who is Babak Hassibi?
Babak Hassibi is an Iranian-American electrical engineer who is the Gordon M. Binder/Amgen Professor of Electrical Engineering and head of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology.
He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Tehran University in 1989, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1993 and 1996 respectively. He was a member of the technical staff in Mathematics of Communications Research Group at the Bell Laboratories in 1998-2000. He is the recipient of the 2003 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, 2003 David and Lucille Packard Fellowship for Science and Engineering, the Okawa Foundation Research Grant in Information Sciences in 2002 and National Science Foundation Career Award in 2002.
